Spot Welding

The fastest way
to assemble sheet metal parts.

Sysclad's digitally controlled Tecna spot welder joins sheet metal, welded wire mesh, and wire mesh quickly and cleanly — the process we use in-house for galvanised vent extenders and plenum boxes.

What spot welding is

Two sheets. One pulse. A permanent join.

Spot welding works by clamping two sheets of metal between copper electrodes and passing a high electrical current through them. The resistance at the contact point generates intense heat, fusing the sheets together in a small, strong weld nugget — without any filler material, flux, or shielding gas.

It's fast, clean, and leaves no weld bead to grind back. For sheet metal assemblies that need to be joined quickly and reliably at multiple points, spot welding is consistently the most efficient method.

Materials

What we can spot weld

Galvanised Steel

Our primary spot welding material. Used across our vent extender and plenum box production — good fire resistance properties and excellent weldability.

Aluminium Alloys

Our Tecna welder is capable of welding aluminium alloys — but aluminium's high thermal conductivity means the gauge of material that can be welded is limited.

Aluminium note:

Because aluminium conducts heat much more readily than steel, the electrical current disperses quickly — making it harder to build sufficient heat at the weld point. Our Tecna welder handles aluminium alloys, but thicker gauges of aluminium are not suitable for spot welding. For thick aluminium plate, our MIG welder is the better option.
